Dr. Miller is the author of the pioneering book for consumers on self harm and trauma, Women Who Hurt Themselves (1994): tenth anniversary edition (2004). She is the co-author of the ATRIUM model treatment manual Addictions and Trauma Recovery: Healing the Body, Mind and Spirit , (2001), and Your Surviving Spirit: A Workbook of Spiritual Resources for Coping with Trauma, (2003).  She has published numerous journal articles on addictions and trauma, including feature articles in Psychiatric Quarterly and Psychotherapy Networker.

Dusty is currently working on a memoir about her journey from victim to survivor, revealing the up's and down's of her experience in the mental health system. She documents her recovery story, sharing her experience and strength, and her faith in the power of friendship,faith, and community.

She is also writing a political thriller, a story of betrayal and transformation, featuring the sleuthing daring of the Raging Grannies.
